Microsoft Buying LinkedIn at USD 26.2 Billion - Microsoft agreed to purchase social network LinkedIn for USD 26.2 billion. According to some sources this is the biggest acquisitions in the history of Microsoft. LinkedIn itself is a social network for professionals is on the rise and is now estimated to have around 433 million members worldwide. "I have always had great admiration for LinkedIn," said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, commenting on the acquisition. He said he had a long discussion about his intention to buy LinkedIn with the chairman Reid Hoffman and CEO Jeff Weiner.
Reid himself has said very supportive deal with Microsoft. While Jeff Weiner will remain as CEO of LinkedIn and later he reports directly to Nadella.
"Tim LinkedIn has raised a fantastic business centered on connecting professionals around the world. Together we can accelerate the growth of LinkedIn, and Microsoft Office 365 and Dynamics while empowering individuals and organizations on the planet," said Nadella.
Microsoft plans menggeber monetization of LinkedIn once the acquisition is completed, with the strategy of growing individual customer and the organization as well as through advertising. The acquisition still requires approval from regulators in the United States, European Union, Canada and Brazil. An amount of Rp 349 billion will be paid in cash Microsoft. The acquisition process is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
